(link) After two miserable (not at first, but eventually) weekends of searching for winter boots throughout Brooklyn, going to every store from DSW to the tiniest boutique in Park Slope, I finally ended up buying the above corso como equestrian design in black.
Mind you, I bought another pair first (for the same price), and then exchanged them because they were beautiful but clearly half a size too big.
This style wasn’t exactly what I wanted - I was looking for something a little more original - and the price was.. kind of painful, but I needed something
on a low heel - oddly very difficult to find which is strange because New York women need shoes they can walk in a lot
sturdy - last year I made the mistake of buying boots that turned out to be purely decorative
appropriate with any outfit
could zip - for some peculiar reason, I couldn’t pull up or zip most of the boots I tried on this year; for someone who has pretty average size calfs, this was extremely disconcerting
and the above were the only shoes that fit all those criteria!
Here’s hoping that, with care, these will last the 2+ years my last pair lasted.

Sorry for the recent Creek overload on this blog. Work has been kind of stressful lately. This is how I deal.

Also this happened.

Called it!

I probably would have done the same.

If this version of Ken Marino (vs this version) had been my English teacher.

There was kissing AND then Joey learned a lesson about incomplete endings being the best kind of endings.

Otherwise, Season 5 of Dawson’s Creek was kind of a wash. Sure, Sherilyn Fenn made a cameo (her most unflattering role ever? no stills from me here) but otherwise the stories were half-baked and disjointed. More back and forth with Dawson and Joey. More weird ‘ghost story’ episodes. TWO occasions of Joey singing.

Meh.

On the upside, Dawson lost his virginity (not to Joey, of course, BECAUSE SHE IS PURE), there was a death involving ice cream (Weird!), new characters were introduced, and Pacey’s story has taken a positive turn despite him not going to college.

Maybe it wasn’t that bad, after all.

24 episodes to go!

Are you a fan of the band Rooney? I’d heard this song but wasn’t really familiar with the band until I looked up this guy (Ned Brower, the drummer) while watching Dawson’s Creek.

So, he went from this (a weird nerdy guy who for me is possibly the most relatable/interesting fringe character on the show)

to this (far right)

to this (still from Are You Afraid of Me?)

So interesting to see how people’s looks change through the years.

Guess what, y’all. It’s that time of year again!
I want to get this thing out in January - just in time for it to be the best Valentine’s Day gift ever.
Start thinking about what you want to write.
Friends - expect a mass e-mail in the upcoming days.

Dawson's Creek - Season 5 - Episode 18

  • Amy Lloyd: Favorite movie of the last couple years? Off the top of your head, don't even think about it!
  • Dawson: Run Lola Run
  • Amy Lloyd: Liar! That's the movie you whip out to show people how cool you are. I'm not interested in cool, I'm interested in the movie that made you cry and you have no idea why. I'm interested in the movie that you're embarrassed to tell your friends you went to go see on opening night.
  • Dawson: - sometime later - By the way, mine is Roadhouse. With Patrick Swayze. I've seen it like 37 times. Every time it's on TV I have to watch it all the way through. I own the tape. I love it and no idea why.
  • Amy Lloyd: That's a good one!

(there’s an awesome gif here for those of you reading this on your tumbr dashboard)

“The problem with your story, Joey Potter, is that it ends at the very moment it should begin.”

I’m (finally!) starting Season 5 (THE COLLEGE YEARS) of Dawson’s Creek and am reminded once again of why I love this show so much: guest stars!

Ken Marino is playing the very sexy Professor Wilder this season and boy am I lol-ing.

This is a line of eager freshmen girls waiting outside his office

while he sneakily jumps out his window and proceeds to (almost) flirt the pants off Joey.

Ooh, I hope something inappropriate happens here and Joey learns A NEW IMPORTANT LESSON ABOUT LOVE.

There are a lot of great things up on Hulu right now (The Elephant Man, Chaplin, Moonstruck, etc), but the thing I’m most excited about is Julia Sweeney’s God Said ‘Ha!’

I initially discovered my love for Sweeney about a year ago by way of This American Life.

The episode and the above overlap somewhat, but if you’re new to the story, please give this video a watch.
