wtf?
I could have sworn that I added several Ricky Gervais live comedy DVD’s to my Netflix queue. Tonight I go in to bump them to the top and discover that Netflix has NO Ricky Gervais COMEDY DVD’S AT ALL! ?? Also, they need to get some Cheburashka cartoons and I’ll be set.
Envisioning Russia: A Century of Filmmaking →
ohboy: I’ve actually never seen Москва слезам не верит, if anyone wants to go —- !! I’ve seen Moscow Doesn’t Believe in Tears (melodramatic and funny.. as most 80’s/90’s Russian movies are …has a interesting collection of characters that you see grow up throughout the course of the film; worth seeing, though, Zoya), but I’m definitely going to see...

– (link) Sometimes I think Jakob Lodwick is a robot. His tone is always so distanced and unwavering—the sentences always coming out in pairs of “I want…” and “I will…”—that I wouldn’t be surprised at all if he wasn’t a real person but a...

No working Internet=busy weekend
Saturday Went to the embroidery exhibit at the Museum of Art & Design (very much recommended) Milled around the MoMA store, where they apparently sell clocky (50$!!), the wearehappytoserveyou mug (too heavy/bulky), and some of those db clay wallets (don’t look as great in person as they do online) Went to Blue Smoke and had delicious overpriced fried chicken with Matt. Finally went in to...
Someone recently ended up on my tumblr after searching for fat women pretty lickable feet. I’m sorry I let you down.
Ma-a-a-a-aybe Tina Fey should stick to writing her own material. However, despite the role begging for it like Keira Knightly in Atonement, Amy Poehler refuses to play the same loud, crass character she routinely does. — bittentongue Dude! I saw this and it was good. Yeah Amy does her usual trashy absentminded shtick and the only black person in the entire film is a ‘cool’ doorman,...
Some odd messages I've been receiving on Flickr:
Subject: bookmark Hi ksen. I like your being made uncomfortable by “unabashed obsessiveness”, in the flickr profile. I saw a few recent photos, and will bookmark your flicker space with this message. I hope to return later to see the travel photos, and clouds. blinky —- Subject: thanks, found another URL ksen., The 2006 Ukraine cloud photos caught my eye. My computer...
Things that happened at work today:
1. Someone smoked pot in the men’s room. No one knows who and all the possible suspects were out and about. 2. I saw the person responsible for handling paychecks photocopying at least a dozen twenty-dollar bills and a handful of ones. I’m not sure why. 3. I went to the women’s room, quickly realized it was flooded and the toilet was clogged, and opened the door to exit. Was met...

which despite being an hour and THREE subway trains away from me is the nearest place where I can pickup packages that haven’t been delivered because I wasn’t home. The place looked like a concentration camp, with people moaning and scratching against the walls through the din of ‘Are you Smarter than a Fifth Grader?’ And the trip was like something out of The Warriors,...

– (Wikipedia) So..Cloverfield is only 90 minutes long and is about a slurpee and a WHALE SCIENTIST?! I get it now and it sounds adorable!
I got more than 8 hours of sleep AND I figured out how to cut my commute down by 15 minutes! Holy crap, today is going to be great!
Also,
I woke up to three Hispanic men outside my window. I assume they’re doing construction. With the shade down it just looks like they’re doing that crazy shadow play they had at last year’s Oscars.
Gift of the ..vagi?
My dear roommate swiped some organic tampons for me in addition to some gourmet soap I requested (he has an endless supply of delicious-smelling, oat-covered soaps and I wanted in on the action). Was this gesture inevitable or icky? What could possibly be the equivalently sweet yet slightly inappropriate gift to him? Hemp condoms?
Update.
Been swamped at work like you wouldn’t believe, hating and loving it simultaneously. Making a game of being nice in situations where snideness might have been more natural to me in a slightly alternative (=non-job-related) context; writing my co-worker the note ‘THIS LADY DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO USE A DROP DOWN MENU!’ as I coo my condolences on the phone; and sincerely giggling...

Best part of working in troubleshooting:
Reenacting the most redundant and bizarre customer questions/issues/requests to your co-workers using different voices and accents. Seriously, when all other tech jobs start to fade away, troubleshooting will live on. It is the most painful yet amusing job I have ever had.
