3 Years of Movie-Watching Data
Larger view —- Notes: Total number of movies watched 2009 = 295    2010 = 365    2011 = 226 I watch a lot of movies on my iPod and Hulu while at work (a lot of my job is collecting data and I need to keep my mind occupied through podcasts and film). Matt and I no longer own a TV and use a projector instead. 92YTribeca is a theater we discovered shortly after it opened in 2009....

Flattering.
I just found this on The Mag Blog: “Kseniya Yarosh’s prose poem, Lemons, is full of readily accessible images that are delightful and enjoyable. In fact, after reading it for the first time, I chuckled like a doting grandmother reading a bedtime story for her sleepy-eyed, rosy-cheeked grandchildren. Yet, Yarosh’s piece is so much more, repeat readings inevitably reveal...

I watched Passengers (2008) this morning in the background while doing some work. Check out all the dew drops in Anne Hathaway’s eyes! Why didn’t they just hire Camilla Belle if they were going to Photoshop Anne into her anyway? It’s a spooky, vague, slow (indie?) thriller in hues of blue, so I knew a twist was coming. These are some of the guesses I wrote down in the...

A gif Matt made using stills from Miss All-American Beauty (1982). What other lady could play a beauty queen and a punk star (Ladies and Gentlemen, the Fabulous Stains) in the same year?

ILBM #1 - the issue that started it all →
And the final bit of ILBM-related news for the week. I Love Bad Movies #1 is now available on Ms. Valerie Park Distro’s site. You can still purchase all our issues from ILoveBadMovies.com, but if you feel like buying other zines as well (I’ve bought many from them; their selection is unbeatable) or an awesome calendar (it’s in my kitchen right now!), this is the way to go.

Another end of the year wrap-up: the 13 books I read in 2011. It’s a little embarrassing how little I’ve been reading since graduating college, but this year I got back on track. I still watched 200+ movies, lots and lots of TV on DVD, read my weekly New York Magazine, The Onion, and a stack-full of zines, but in between all those I managed to read (and finish! ..a problem for me) some of the...

Meet Your Zine Maker →
You might have already visited the site, but I wanted to note that even if you’re not interested in participating in the Brooklyn Zine Fest 2012, I’d highly recommend keeping an eye on the Meet Your Zine Maker section for some interesting interviews with our growing list of exhibitors. Find out what zines mean to them, how they use the medium alongside their specific approach to art...
